A font composed of preset-sized components, with glyphs selected from the Xiaozhuan script, traditional characters, and simplified characters, while maintaining a certain level of readability.

It all started with a client’s request for a font that combined both modern and classical elements. Despite initially doubting the feasibility, I decided to give it a try by simplifying Xiaozhuan script glyphs. To my surprise, the client was extremely satisfied with the result. This left me wondering if it was my initial skepticism that was the issue, rather than the actual outcome.

The plan was ambitious: to create a font that included 6763 commonly used characters. Bringing a single creative concept to life across thousands of instances is indeed a task that tests one’s patience to the limit. Despite optimizing the production process as much as possible, the inevitable reality was that it still took over a month and a half of dedicated work.

Exhaustion has set in, and while I strive for perfection in my creations, I must admit that the font display here is a more relaxed effort. The sheer scale of the project has taken its toll, but the satisfaction of knowing that my work has exceeded the client’s expectations makes it all worthwhile. It’s a reminder that sometimes, pushing boundaries and embracing the unexpected can lead to truly remarkable results.

Regarding Licensing:

When creating this font, the creator did not specifically research font licensing, assuming that the MIT license, being a permissive license, would suffice. However, some users have expressed concerns that in certain contexts, failing to provide proper attribution when using the font may violate the MIT license’s terms.

Navigating licensing can indeed be a complex task, and choosing the MIT license was simply due to habit and its general permissiveness. The idea of switching to the Open Font License (OFL) was considered, but given the unfamiliarity with both licenses, the transition seemed cumbersome. Therefore, the following clarification is provided:

“Yufanxinyuti” font retains only the author’s right of attribution; all other rights are neither reserved nor assumed by the author. Users are encouraged to adhere to proper attribution practices when using the font, but the author takes no responsibility for any misinterpretation or non-compliance with licensing terms.
